Who we are

Zambian company. Chinese warehouse. One line between them.

AITRANSIT is not a broker forwarding your cargo to somebody else. We take it in at our own counter in Guangzhou, fly it on our own bookings, clear it ourselves, and hand it to you in Makeni. The same company at both ends of the journey.

Our story

Built by people who got tired of losing boxes

Everybody buying from China in Zambia has the same three stories. The supplier who took the deposit and went quiet. The carton that arrived open. The bill for duty nobody mentioned when the price was quoted.

AITRANSIT was built by Zambians on both ends of that route to take those three stories off the table. We put a warehouse in Baiyun District so there is somewhere real for your supplier to deliver — a counter, a scale, a camera. We photograph every consignment before it flies and again when it lands, so condition is a matter of record rather than of memory. And we settle the duty ourselves, so the figure we quote is the figure you pay.

We are a small company and we answer our own telephones. If something goes wrong, you will speak to somebody who can actually go and look at your cargo.

What we hold ourselves to

Four things, and we publish all of them

Not values on a wall. Each of these is enforced by the system that runs the business, and you can check every one of them from your own account.

Duty is in the price

Our rate covers freight and import duty to our Lusaka warehouse. There is no second bill when it lands.

Weighed on our own scale

In Guangzhou when we take it in, and again in Lusaka. The Lusaka weight is what you are charged on, and you can see both.

Photographed both ends

Every consignment, every time. If something arrives damaged, there is a picture of what it looked like before it flew.

7 free days, then it is charged

Storage is free for 7 days after check-in, then USD 2 a day. We tell you before it starts, not after.

The route

Where your cargo actually goes

There is no non-stop freighter between China and Zambia. Your cargo leaves Guangzhou or Hong Kong, changes aircraft at a hub, and lands in Lusaka. Which hub depends on the space we can get that week — here is the whole network.

Distances are great-circle, between the airports themselves. Which hub your cargo connects at depends on the space we can get that week — we book whichever gets it to you soonest, and your tracking page names the flight it actually went on.

On the earth

The same route, spinning

Drag it. The aircraft are on the real great circles between the real airports.

Inside the operation

Nine things happen to your box, and you can watch eight of them

From the moment your supplier puts it on our counter to the moment you sign for it, every step is recorded against your tracking number — with the date, the batch and the flight.

  1. 01

    Your supplier delivers

They drop the goods at our Guangzhou counter. That is the whole of your part.

  2. 02

    We book it in

Weighed, counted, photographed and labelled with the tracking number you follow it by.

  3. 03

It goes on a loading table

Guangzhou or Hong Kong, chosen by what the cargo is — not by you, and not at random.

  4. 04

    The flight is booked

Airline, flight number and waybill recorded against your consignment.

  5. 05

    It flies and it connects

Out of China to Dubai or Addis Ababa, then onward to Lusaka on the next available lift.

  6. 06

    We clear it

Duty settled by us at Kenneth Kaunda International. No second bill for you.

  7. 07

    Checked in at Makeni

Every package counted against the manifest and weighed again on our scale.

  8. 08

    Priced and invoiced

Finance confirms the figure. Your invoice keeps the rate it was raised at, permanently.

  9. 09

    You collect

Pickup note scanned against your cargo at the counter, and photographed as it leaves.

The one you cannot watch is the clearing — customs is not ours to show. Everything else turns up on your tracking page as it happens. Try it with a tracking number.

Three numbers, three people, both countries
